Remote Special Education Teacher - Ohio
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited university
• Active Ohio Intervention Specialist License (e.g., Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or K-12 Multi-Categorical) issued by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW)
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience teaching special education (school-based and/or teletherapy preferred)
• Direct experience navigating Ohio’s Evaluation Team Report (ETR) process and IEP development
• Strong communication, instructional design, and time-management skills
• Comfortable using teletherapy platforms, learning management systems, and virtual classroom technology
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Support
• Deliver direct, modified virtual instruction to students with diverse learning needs in individual, small group, or remote classroom settings
• Implement evidence-based instructional strategies and curriculum modifications aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Track academic growth and behavioral milestones, using data-driven assessments to adjust instructional techniques in real time
• Maintain an engaging, inclusive, and structured online learning environment
Collaboration & Teamwork
• Work closely with general education teachers, related service providers (SLPs, OTs, School Psychologists), parents, and administrators
• Coordinate virtual classroom accommodations and modified learning materials across content areas
• Participate actively in virtual ETR, IEP, and multidisciplinary team meetings
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain precise and timely documentation of instructional delivery, attendance, and IEP goal progress
• Ensure all instructional practices and compliance documents strictly adhere to Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) mandates, district guidelines, and federal special education laws (IDEA)
• Complete evaluation contributions, IEP goal tracking, and required compliance documentation
Technology & Virtual Tools
• Utilize remote learning platforms, digital whiteboards, and interactive educational tools to deliver dynamic, specialized instruction
• Adapt educational software and materials to ensure visual, auditory, and cognitive accessibility
• Support families and students with navigating virtual platforms and instructional technology
Advocacy & Empowerment
• Empower students to develop self-advocacy, executive function, and independent learning skills
• Provide ongoing guidance, resources, and progress updates to families and educational teams
