Virtual Special Education Teacher (SPED) / IEP Case Manager - Oklahoma
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education from an accredited institution
• Active Oklahoma Standard Teaching Certificate in Special Education (Mild-Moderate Disabilities, Severe-Profound Disabilities, or equivalent) issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE)
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in special education instruction and direct IEP case management (school-based and/or virtual preferred)
• In-depth knowledge of Oklahoma Special Education Policies and Procedures and proficiency with state IEP documentation systems (e.g., EdPlan / OK EdPlan)
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary IEP teams, manage caseload compliance timelines, and facilitate parent meetings
• Strong organizational, time-management, and written/verbal communication skills
• Comfortable navigating telepractice platforms, remote data-tracking tools, and electronic file-management systems
Key Responsibilities
IEP Case Management & Compliance
• Serve as the primary case manager for an assigned virtual caseload of special education students across grade bands
• Monitor and maintain strict compliance with all state and federal timelines for annual IEP reviews, initial placements, and three-year re-evaluations (REDs)
• Draft high-quality, legally defensible IEP documents, including Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), measurable annual goals, accommodations, and service minutes within OK EdPlan
• Coordinate and facilitate virtual IEP team meetings, manifestation determinations, and amendment conferences with parents, teachers, and administrators
Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Coordination
• Coordinate closely with general education teachers, related service providers (SLPs, OTs, PTs, School Psychologists), and district administration to ensure full IEP implementation
• Collect progress monitoring data from teachers and service providers to prepare quarterly IEP progress reports
• Act as the central communication liaison between school districts, remote service providers, and families regarding special education services and student progress
Instruction & Accommodation Oversight
• Provide consultation and instructional coaching to general education teachers on differentiated curriculum, testing accommodations, and classroom modifications
• Deliver specialized academic instruction or virtual intervention sessions (individual or small group) as dictated by caseload needs
• Assist school teams in implementing positive behavioral supports and tracking behavioral progress monitoring data
Documentation & State Reporting
• Maintain organized, compliant, and confidential electronic special education records in accordance with FERPA and district guidelines
• Ensure all Prior Written Notices (PWNs), meeting notices, parent consent forms, and evaluation reports are completed accurately and submitted on time
• Complete district compliance audits and assist with state reporting data verification as needed
