Make a meaningful impact by supporting high school students on their journey toward graduation and career readiness as a Special Education Teacher serving opportunity youth in a dynamic learning environment. In this rewarding contract position, you’ll collaborate closely with students ages 15–21 who are working to earn their diplomas and develop essential career skills through a flexible, self-paced program.
Your efforts will help shape futures by providing individualized instruction, advocacy, and guidance so that every learner can reach their full potential. From the first day in August 2026 through June 2027, you’ll be a vital presence for students, helping them overcome obstacles and celebrate achievements along the way.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification/license
- Experience working in a special education capacity, ideally with high school students
- Knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs) and experience implementing accommodations
- Passion for helping opportunity youth achieve academic and personal goals
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction tailored to diverse learning needs
- Develop, review, and implement IEPs in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Partner with career tech instructors and counselors to support transitions to adult life and employment
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and parent conferences
