Special Education Teacher in Wallace, NC

Make a difference in the lives of middle school students as a Special Education Teacher serving grades 6-8. This contract position near Wallace, NC offers an engaging opportunity to support a dedicated caseload at the middle school level. You’ll work closely with a team, including Instructional Assistants, to ensure individualized student needs are met and learning potential is maximized. This role provides a consistent full-time schedule, with up to 40 hours per week including dedicated planning periods, allowing you to thoughtfully prepare lessons and collaborate with colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
- Valid state certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
- Experience creating and implementing IEPs for middle school students preferred
- Ability to collaborate with instructional assistants and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability to meet diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of 7 students with the support of an Instructional Assistant
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Deliver differentiated instruction in both individual and small group settings
- Assess student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment for grades 6-8
- Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development
