Special Education Teacher - Wappingers Falls, NY
Make a real difference in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher in well-supported, engaging school environments. Multiple contract positions are open for the upcoming school year across several inclusive educational programs in the region. These offer the chance to shape educational journeys for preschoolers through middle schoolers, each supported by an experienced classroom team.
Openings span full-time opportunities at preschool, kindergarten, and elementary/middle grade levels (including UPK) in self-contained classrooms. With no more than 12 students per class, you’ll be able to deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals and collaborate closely with three dedicated support staff per room. Many classes integrate behavior intervention supports and benefit from a focus on student-centered, developmental approaches.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Special Education Teacher certification appropriate for your preferred grade span
- Early Childhood Special Education certification preferred for preschool and UPK roles
- Proven commitment to guiding students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
- Ability to develop and implement differentiated instruction
- Strong collaboration skills for working within a multidisciplinary team
- Up-to-date New York State clearances, or willingness to obtain them
What You’ll Do:
- Plan and deliver tailored instruction for a small, manageable caseload of 6–12 students
- Implement IEP-driven curriculum and monitor individual progress
- Lead a classroom team of support professionals and foster a positive, inclusive environment
- Engage with families and specialists to ensure comprehensive support for student development
- Participate in ongoing professional development and school community events
