Make a meaningful difference as a Special Education Teacher for a small, close-knit self-contained classroom, serving grades 4-6. This contract position presents an exciting opportunity to foster growth and independence in a setting that allows for tailored instruction and genuine connections with students and support staff.
In this role, you’ll lead a classroom of five students, with the support of two dedicated paraprofessionals, providing an exceptional opportunity for focused instruction and collaboration. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of December 2026.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with elementary or middle grades, ideally in a self-contained environment
- Strong ability to adapt curriculum and teach students with varied abilities, backgrounds, and needs
- Proven skills in classroom management and collaborative teamwork
- Deep commitment to facilitating educational, emotional, and social growth for each student
What You’ll Do:
- Design, implement, and assess individualized plans—ensuring each student receives the support they need to thrive academically and socially
- Foster a nurturing, respectful, and structured classroom environment, maintaining positive relationships with your classroom paras
- Modify curriculum and provide differentiated instruction to meet all IEP requirements
- Lead team meetings, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with families and school partners
- Cultivate a supportive atmosphere, encouraging students’ confidence, self-advocacy, and skill development
