Special Education Teacher in Chicago, IL

The position offers a 32-hour workweek across five days, focusing on a small caseload of 6-8 students ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid state teaching license with LBS1 SPED endorsement required
- Background in K-12 special education, especially using a therapeutic teaching model
- Experience in both 1:1 and small group (up to 4 students) instructional settings
- Able to commit to the full contract duration and potentially summer session
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and intervention strategies to meet individual student needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction according to IEPs and program goals
- Develop and implement personalized strategies to help each student achieve academic and behavioral objectives
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
- Collaborate with school team members to ensure a supportive, therapeutic classroom environment
- Provide feedback and support to families regarding student progress and needs
- Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and empowered
