Special Education Teacher | Waukegan, Illinois
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Resource Teacher for the first semester of the school year, serving 6th-grade students in a middle school setting. This position is based on-site near Waukegan, IL, and offers an engaging environment dedicated to supporting diverse learners. The assignment runs from August 17, 2026, through December 18, 2026, and may extend if a permanent hire is not secured.
Qualifications:
- Valid PEL (Professional Educator License) and Special Education teaching credentials required
- Experience teaching special education at the middle school level preferred
- Strong understanding of resource teaching models and differentiated instruction
- Ability to collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents
- Effective communication and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to 6th-grade students with varied learning needs
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with colleagues to modify and adapt curriculum materials
- Maintain thorough documentation on student progress and interventions
- Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development as required
- Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student growth and confidence
As part of this contract, you will work a consistent schedule of 32.5 hours weekly, Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
