In this setting, you’ll guide a small group of approximately six students with the support of experienced PCAs, enabling targeted, individualized instruction and a positive classroom culture that encourages every learner.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience teaching middle school age groups, especially in special education
- Strong understanding of autistic support strategies and individualized education plans (IEP)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with PCAs, other staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering an engaging, supportive classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and modify curriculum based on students’ strengths and needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs with input from families and team
- Foster a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom atmosphere with support staff
- Track progress, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate outcomes
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and fellow educators
- Participate in team meetings, ongoing professional development, and school initiatives
