Special Education Teacher | West Hartford, Connecticut

What we’re looking for:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certificate (or the ability to obtain)
- Experience or passion for working with 1st and 2nd grade students
- Understanding of IEP processes and best practices in differentiated instruction
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with families, general education staff, and support personnel
- Flexibility, creativity, and a student-centered mindset
- Professional commitment through the entire school year
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans in line with each student’s IEP
- Create a nurturing, organized classroom environment that builds confidence and independence
- Collaborate with colleagues to modify curriculum and support inclusion
- Track student progress, maintaining accurate records and ongoing communication with families
- Participate in school meetings, IEP reviews, and professional development
This is a full-time opportunity offering a consistent Monday–Friday schedule (32.5–37.5 hours per week), so you can make the most of both your professional and personal life.
