Special Education Teacher in West Haven, CT
A rewarding opportunity awaits an experienced Special Education Teacher to take on a long-term substitute assignment in a supportive elementary school environment. This full-time contract role begins as soon as possible and continues through November, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact with 5th grade students in a push-in/resource capacity.
In this position, you’ll collaborate closely with classroom teachers and support staff to provide differentiated instruction, promote inclusion, and deliver tailored interventions to help each student thrive. Your expertise will ensure students receive the individual attention they deserve, fostering academic progress and social-emotional growth.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience working in elementary education, preferably with 5th grade.
- Proficiency with IEP development, implementation, and documentation.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with teaching teams and families.
- Adaptable, creative, and responsive to the diverse needs of learners.
- Previous experience in a resource or push-in support position is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and support for students with special needs within general education classrooms.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to implement student IEPs and foster successful participation.
- Work closely with general education teachers to modify curriculum and activities as needed.
- Collect data on student progress and contribute to IEP meetings, as appropriate.
