Make a meaningful impact in the lives of high school students by stepping into this full-time contract role as a Special Education Teacher serving grades 9–12. Beginning August 24th and continuing through the end of the school year, you’ll take on a dynamic position where your skills and compassion can truly shine.
In this role, you will serve as both an advisor and educator within an inclusion setting, guiding students while fostering a supportive and empowering classroom atmosphere. With 35 hours per week dedicated to academic support and running an advisory class, your contributions will elevate the learning experience for students and provide them with essential tools for success.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience or deep familiarity with inclusion classrooms at the high school level
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a talent for advising and supporting adolescents
- Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning needs and styles
- Commitment to fostering a positive, growth-oriented learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Serve as advisor to assigned students, building rapport and providing guidance throughout the school year
- Lead advisory class sessions, supporting students in personal and academic development
- Provide academic support for four periods daily to students with varying abilities
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure student needs are met
- Track and report student progress, modify plans as necessary, and participate in IEP meetings
