Special Education Teacher - Winnetka, IL
Make a difference supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract, full-time position focuses on a resource model for students in grades K-4, with a small caseload of 8–12 students. You’ll provide both direct instruction in a pull-out setting and push-in support within general education classrooms, addressing academic, social, and emotional needs.
This onsite opportunity is ideal for education professionals passionate about delivering impactful, individualized instruction—and who thrive in a collaborative school environment. You’ll work a set schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with daily dedicated time for lunch and breaks.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator’s License (PEL) or a comparable out-of-state license with eligibility to obtain IL licensure
- Relevant certification in special education
- Experience supporting elementary-level students, ideally within a resource model providing both academic and social/emotional aid
- Orton Gillingham training or similar literacy intervention certification (SLANT, Wilson, Sonday, etc.) preferred
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Role Expectations:
- Manage a caseload of 8–12 elementary students, delivering resource support and collaborating with general education teachers
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide targeted instruction during pull-out sessions and inclusive classroom settings
- Monitor and document student progress; adjust instruction as needed
- Act as an advocate for students, promoting their academic and social/emotional growth
- Engage with families and staff to facilitate student success
