Make a genuine impact supporting students with diverse learning needs as a Special Education Teacher for a contract position. This opportunity is in a school setting located near Zachary, LA, with a start date as soon as possible and a term stretching through May 20, 2027. In this full-time position, you’ll provide instruction and advocacy for students, working proactively alongside families, service providers, and school staff to foster an inclusive, supportive environment.
Qualifications:
- Active Special Education (SPED) Certification in Louisiana
- Experience teaching or supporting students with disabilities in an educational setting
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt and differentiate instruction based on individual student needs
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Passion for creating positive, accessible learning experiences
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver specialized instruction to students on your caseload
- Assess student abilities and write/review Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families
- Track and report on student progress and goals
- Participate in IEP meetings, team planning, and professional development
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
This assignment is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. You will be serving a caseload to be determined (details forthcoming) and working with students on individualized learning plans.
