Special Education Teacher | Andover, Minnesota
Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant middle school setting near Andover, MN. This contract role offers the chance to support students in grades where individualized instruction is paramount. Beginning August 20, 2026, and scheduled through December 23, 2026—with a strong likelihood of continuing for the entire school year—this position provides stability and the opportunity to form lasting connections.
You will collaborate with a seasoned educational team, including another teacher and a group of supportive paraprofessionals (each with over two years of experience on site) to guide a caseload of 15 students. The focus will be on small group instruction in math and social skills, utilizing Setting 1-2 models. Engage with students who thrive with targeted assistance, and partner with skilled colleagues passionate about fostering growth.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid MN Special Education Tier 2-4 License (required)
- Experience working with middle school-aged students in a special education setting
- Strong math instruction and social skills facilitation background preferred
- Effective communication and collaborative abilities
- Adaptable and proactive approach to individualized learning plans
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to small groups focused on math and social skills
- Develop, implement, and track student IEP goals
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and paraprofessionals to support classroom management and instructional strategies
- Maintain open communication with families and school staff
- Participate in team planning, meetings, and ongoing professional development
This full-time opportunity spans approximately 35 hours per week, from 7:30am to 4:00pm. The role offers the flexibility of a contract position while allowing you to immerse yourself in a supportive, close-knit environment.
