Special Education Teacher in Boulder City, NV
Step into a pivotal educational role serving elementary and middle school students at a unique, high-needs campus located on a military base. We're seeking two dedicated Special Education professionals to join a collaborative environment from ASAP through May 31, 2027. This is a full-time contract positioned within a self-contained classroom setting.
You’ll work closely with a capped caseload of up to 13 students (with no more than 8–10 in the classroom at any one time), most of whom are diagnosed with Autism. Supportive paraprofessionals are assigned to each classroom, ensuring a team-driven approach to student success. As part of your students’ development, you’ll coordinate their participation in specials, accompanied by their designated aides.
Qualifications:
- Valid Nevada Special Education Teaching License required
- Professional experience teaching students with Autism or high-needs populations preferred
- Ability to foster an inclusive, structured, and compassionate classroom environment
- Excellent communication skills to engage with colleagues, paraprofessionals, families, and specialists
- Flexibility and resourcefulness to adapt instructional methods in a dynamic setting
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction in alignment with IEP goals
- Manage a self-contained special education classroom with support from multiple paraprofessionals
- Develop academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions
- Collaborate with educators, aides, and administration to ensure holistic student progress
- Maintain organized documentation and participate in IEP meetings
- Foster a safe and welcoming space for students to thrive
