Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Previous experience supporting students with autism, in either classroom or resource settings
- Understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Familiarity with evidence-based instructional strategies for learners with autism
- Strong collaboration skills when working with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
- Ability to create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction across academic subjects to students on the autism spectrum
- Adapt and modify curriculum to accommodate individual learning needs and IEP goals
- Foster student independence and strong self-advocacy skills
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, speech/language pathologists, related service providers, and families
- Monitor, document, and report on student progress regularly
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team conferences, and professional development
