Special Education Teacher | Brooklyn, New York
Make a meaningful impact supporting young learners in a Pre-K Readiness Program as a Special Education Teacher. This full-time contract opportunity near Brooklyn, NY allows you to bring your expertise, passion, and care to some of our youngest students, guiding them as they develop essential skills for future academic success.
You’ll work on a Monday–Friday schedule, contributing 30 hours per week from September 9, 2026, through June 25, 2027. In this rewarding environment, you will collaborate with dedicated colleagues, tailoring instruction to meet the diverse needs of your preschool-aged caseload. Your knowledge and creativity will be valued as you help shape individualized education plans and foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Desired Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience teaching special education, with preference given to those who have worked at the Pre-Kindergarten level
- Current New York State Certification in Special Education (required)
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and readiness programs
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective, individualized educational strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to cultivating a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction to support PK students with diverse learning needs
- Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional approaches accordingly
- Create and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to maximize student outcomes
- Maintain thorough record-keeping and provide timely communication to families and school teams
