Qualifications & Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience as a Special Education Teacher, ideally working with preschool-aged children in a similar readiness or early intervention setting
- Current New York State Certification in Special Education (required)
- Strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for PK students
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, colleagues, and families
- Ability to individualize instruction and implement IEPs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to a caseload of PK-age students enrolled in a readiness program
- Develop and modify lesson plans to align with each child’s strengths and needs
- Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages growth, independence, and social skills
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, classroom activities, and required reports
- Engage and communicate regularly with families, offering insights about student growth and strategies for success at home
