Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher specializing in the GNETS (Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Supports) program. In this full-time contract position, you will support middle school students who require comprehensive behavioral, social-emotional, and academic interventions. This role is designed for educators with a strong background in managing diverse classroom needs and implementing effective strategies for students exhibiting significant behavioral challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction to students receiving GNETS services, ensuring educational goals are met across all core academic areas.
- Develop, document, and implement IEPs, adapting lessons to meet individual student needs.
- Apply behavioral interventions and positive behavior support systems to promote student growth.
- Partner with administrators, service providers, families, and support staff for holistic student support.
- Regularly assess student progress and maintain necessary compliance records.
- Differentiate instruction to address varied learning styles and abilities.
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment conducive to learning.
Qualifications:
- Current Georgia Special Education General Curriculum Certification.
- Certification in all required academic content areas: Reading, Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies and classroom management.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing IEPs.
- Ability to provide three reference checks, including one from a recent supervisor.
Preferred Experience:
- Background in GNETS or alternative educational programs.
- Experience supporting students with emotional and behavioral disorders.
- Training in CPI, de-escalation, or other behavior management techniques.
