Special Education Teacher in Buford, GA
Step into a vital role supporting students in a self-contained adapted curriculum classroom designed for elementary-aged learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive disabilities. As the classroom teacher, you will lead instructional planning and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), creating a nurturing and structured environment tailored to meet complex learning, behavioral, and adaptive needs. Collaboration is essential in this setting; you'll coordinate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to ensure every student’s unique strengths and needs are addressed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction aligned with adapted curriculum standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs.
- Maintain effective classroom routines and behavior support strategies.
- Collaborate closely with classroom paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams.
- Utilize data-driven practices to track and support student progress.
- Foster communication, social, behavioral, and adaptive skill development.
- Differentiate teaching to address diverse student learning profiles.
Qualifications Sought:
- Active Georgia Special Education Certification.
- Demonstrated experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Proven ability to write, implement, and assess IEPs.
- Skilled in managing classroom behaviors and interventions.
Preferred Experience:
- Adapted Curriculum certification or hands-on experience.
- Background working with students with significant cognitive disabilities.
- Familiarity with ABA principles, structured teaching, and functional communication systems.
- Experience mentoring or supervising paraprofessionals.
