Elementary Special Education Teacher in Cambridge, MD

A full-time opportunity awaits a dedicated Special Education Teacher passionate about making a difference for elementary-aged students. This contract position offers the chance to provide vital support to a diverse student body and work closely with general education colleagues. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through the anticipated end of the 2026-2027 school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher is required
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
- Familiarity with a range of disabilities, including Other Health Impairment (OHI), Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Language Impairment
- Strong ability to collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and families
Core Responsibilities:
- Serve approximately 10-15 elementary students on a fluid caseload
- Provide instructional and behavioral support for students with varying needs, primarily inside the general education classroom
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure inclusive practices and appropriate accommodations
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies to promote academic growth and social-emotional development
- Maintain detailed documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Engage effectively with families and support networks to foster positive learning experiences
