You’ll lead a self-contained classroom in a public, separate-day school—supported by a dedicated team of 2–3 paraprofessionals—delivering alternate curriculum in ELA, Math, and Vocational subjects.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Maryland Special Education Teaching License with High School Endorsement required
- Experience working with students with diverse learning, communication, and behavioral needs
- Strong proficiency in developing and adapting curriculum to meet individual education plans
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and growth-oriented classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver alternate curriculum content in ELA, Math, and Vocational skills, tailored to each student’s individualized education program (IEP)
- Maintain classroom management in a self-contained, supportive setting
- Collaborate with paraprofessional staff to provide differentiated instruction and support throughout the day
- Document progress, participate in IEP meetings, and communicate regularly with families and team members
- Engage meaningfully with students to build independence, life skills, and success in post-secondary transitions
Position Details:
- Small caseload: Teach and support 6 students
- Structured schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:00pm
- Includes one hour of daily planning and a 30-minute duty-free lunch
