Special Education Teacher - Silver Spring, Maryland

Applicants should hold a valid Maryland Special Education teaching license with high school endorsement, bringing experience or strong interest in working with students who have learning, communication, and behavioral needs. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current Maryland Special Education License with High School Endorsement
- Experience working with students aged 18-21, especially in alternate curriculum settings
- Knowledge of instructional strategies for learning, communication, and behavioral needs
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with paraeducators and related service staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational programs for a caseload of six students
- Teach alternate curriculum subjects: ELA, Math, Vocational Skills
- Maintain a supportive, structured classroom environment
- Assess progress and adjust instruction to meet varied student needs
- Work closely with support staff, parents, and interdisciplinary teams
This contract position features a consistent Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30am to 3:00pm, including one hour for planning and a duty-free 30-minute lunch. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through early June 2027.
