Step into a rewarding contract role supporting K-12 students as a Special Education—Life Skills Teacher from August 2026 through May 2027. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Texas Special Education Certification (K-12)
- Texas Generalist License (K-12)
- Experience teaching in a Life Skills or self-contained special education classroom preferred
- Deep understanding of K-12 developmental needs and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Ability to tailor instruction for students with varying abilities and learning challenges
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized lesson plans and life skills curriculum for students in a self-contained setting
- Develop and monitor IEPs, collaborating closely with related service providers, families, and support staff
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student independence
- Collect and analyze data to inform instruction and track student progress toward IEP goals
- Employ effective strategies for behavior management and classroom organization
- Participate in staff meetings, ongoing professional development, and school events
