Special Education Teacher - Converse, Texas

Seeking an experienced and passionate educator ready to impact students’ lives in a Life Skills/Self-Contained classroom. This contract opportunity runs from August 2026 to May 2027, offering the chance to work on-site and support students across K-12 in a self-contained setting. With a schedule of 37.5 hours per week, you'll create a positive, structured environment for learners, helping them gain academic, social, and daily living skills within a collaborative school community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid TX Special Education Certification (K-12)
- TX Generalist License (K-12)
- Background in Life Skills or Self-Contained classroom settings preferred
- Experience adapting instructional strategies for diverse learning needs
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with staff, families, and students
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible classroom
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students with a range of abilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in partnership with families and other professionals
- Foster a supportive classroom environment promoting independence and life skills
- Use data-driven methods to track student progress and adjust instruction
- Communicate effectively with team members, parents, and outside providers
- Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school events
