Special Education Teacher in Derby, KS
Make a significant impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting students with high needs in a contract position for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time role (35-40 hours/week) focuses on serving a close-knit group of approximately 10 students per caseload. Two positions are offered—one working with elementary-age children and the other with secondary students—enabling you to bring your skills and compassion to the level where you thrive most.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current Low-Incidence Special Education teaching license (must be active and submitted with application)
- Prior experience supporting students with significant disabilities strongly preferred
- Strong communication and IEP development skills
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary educational teams
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Dedication to positive behavioral supports and inclusive practices
- Position requires on-site presence; virtual options are not available
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and provide direct instruction for a caseload of roughly 10 students with significant disabilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general educators, therapy providers, and families
- Document progress, maintain accurate records, and comply with state/federal regulations
- Foster a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment
