Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in a Mental Health/Behavior Self-Contained Program for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who require intensive behavioral and emotional support and will be committed to fostering a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

This position involves providing specialized instruction, managing a caseload, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with special education requirements.

Position Details

  • Full-Time, 32.5–35 hours per week

  • School Hours: 7:30 AM – 2:20 PM

  • Assignment Dates: September 1, 2026 – June 16, 2027

  • Caseload: Approximately 10–16 students

  • Mental Health/Behavior Self-Contained Classroom Setting

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

  • Conduct evaluations and contribute to eligibility determinations as needed

  • Serve as case manager for assigned students

  • Prepare and maintain required reports, documentation, and progress monitoring data

  • Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and family conferences

  • Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, staff, and families to support student success

  • Implement positive behavior supports and evidence-based intervention strategies

Qualifications

  • Active New Hampshire Special Education Teaching License required

  • Experience working with students with behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs preferred

  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP processes

  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills

  • Ability to create a structured, supportive, and student-centered learning environment
