Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support students in a Mental Health/Behavior Self-Contained Program for the 2026β2027 school year. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who require intensive behavioral and emotional support and will be committed to fostering a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
This position involves providing specialized instruction, managing a caseload, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with special education requirements.
Position Details
Full-Time, 32.5β35 hours per week
School Hours: 7:30 AM β 2:20 PM
Assignment Dates: September 1, 2026 β June 16, 2027
Caseload: Approximately 10β16 students
Mental Health/Behavior Self-Contained Classroom Setting
Responsibilities
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Conduct evaluations and contribute to eligibility determinations as needed
Serve as case manager for assigned students
Prepare and maintain required reports, documentation, and progress monitoring data
Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and family conferences
Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, staff, and families to support student success
Implement positive behavior supports and evidence-based intervention strategies
Qualifications
Active New Hampshire Special Education Teaching License required
Experience working with students with behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs preferred
Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and IEP processes
Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Ability to create a structured, supportive, and student-centered learning environment
