Bring your expertise as a certified Special Education/DHH Teacher to support a student who receives services in a home-based setting. In this rewarding full-time contract role near Eastman, GA, you’ll have the unique opportunity to deliver personalized academic instruction and facilitate communication for a student requiring both special education and sign language interpretation. Key Qualifications:
- Must hold valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Certification or experience in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) education required
- Proficient American Sign Language (ASL) skills for interpreting and direct instruction
- Experience providing individualized education in a one-on-one or small group setting
- Understanding of IEPs, accommodations, and modifications for students with diverse learning needs
- Comfortable collaborating with other professionals such as therapists and vision instructors
- Reliable transportation for commuting within the area
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver all academic instruction in the student’s home according to their IEP and learning goals
- Interpret for the student in ASL during other services (e.g., therapies, vision support) to ensure access to all educational activities
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to meet the student’s needs
- Collect data on progress and participate in IEP meetings and team planning sessions as required
- Communicate regularly with the family and support team to coordinate the student’s comprehensive educational program
- Foster an inclusive, encouraging, and safe learning environment
