Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois teaching license—either LBS1 or a standard education license (Adaptive PE certification not required or accepted for this role)
- Background in teaching physical education; experience in therapeutic or alternative school settings is highly desired
- Ability to spark joy for sports and physical activity, tailoring lessons to diverse learning needs and student abilities
- Strong classroom management skills with a flexible, compassionate approach
- Eagerness to work closely with paraeducators and school leadership to foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead small-group PE sessions (caseload of 9 K–12 students), using existing equipment and resources
- Design creative lessons that build core sports skills, promote healthy habits, and integrate fun into every activity
- Collaborate with a dedicated paraprofessional and multidisciplinary team to support individual learning and behavioral goals
- Encourage confidence, teamwork, and social-emotional growth through safe, engaging movement experiences
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with colleagues and caregivers
Role Details:
- Full-time or flexible schedule options—3 or 4 days per week available
- Start dates: October 12th or November 9th; role continues through the end of the school year
