We're seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher with expertise in mild to moderate disabilities to work in a Specialized Day Class (SDC) setting. Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential with appropriate Special Education authorization
- Background working in SDC environments, preferably with mild/moderate needs
- Strong classroom management, individualized instruction, and curriculum adaptation skills
- Commitment to collaboration with general educators, support staff, and families
- Ability to create inclusive, engaging lessons that address diverse learning styles
- Proficient in developing, implementing, and tracking IEP goals and accommodations
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Must be flexible and adaptable as new details and expectations may arise
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver instruction that meets the unique needs of each student
- Adapt curriculum and modify lessons to maximize student engagement and learning
- Assess student progress, collect data, and update IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Cultivate a positive, respectful classroom community
- Provide direct instruction and behavioral support, adjusting strategies as needed
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate actively with families
