The high school classroom serves approximately 12 students (typically 8-9) and provides an environment where your expertise in special education can help each student grow academically and socially. At the elementary level, you’ll work with around 6 students and have the added support of two dedicated assistants, ensuring that every child receives the care and attention they need to thrive.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid EMD (Educable Mentally Disabled) License required
- Previous experience working as a Special Education Teacher in school settings
- Confidence in developing and implementing IEPs tailored to individual student needs
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with assistants, staff, and families to create a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Commitment to maintaining compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver customized lessons to support diverse learning styles and abilities
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching plans as needed
- Engage in ongoing communication with families regarding student growth and challenges
- Work closely with classroom assistants to optimize support for each student
- Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings
