Exciting contract opportunities are available for experienced Special Education Teachers looking to make a meaningful difference. Contribute your expertise in a thriving, A-rated district serving a diverse student population of over 15,000 across 24 schools. With growth on the horizon and an energizing, supportive environment, you’ll play a key role helping students with severe disabilities flourish.
Assignments begin July 29, 2026, and continue through May 21, 2027. Each educator is placed at one school, ensuring continuity of care and classroom community. We currently have multiple openings:
- 2 positions working with students in kindergarten through 3rd grade
- 1 position for 4th–6th grade
- 1 position supporting students in 7th–8th grade
You’ll primarily teach students with severe disabilities – some verbal, some non-verbal – providing individualized academic and behavioral support.
Key Qualifications:
- Current valid Mississippi Special Education licensure
- Demonstrated experience with K-8 students with significant behavioral and cognitive differences
- Commitment to inclusive practices and positive behavior strategies
- Adaptability in working with verbal and non-verbal students
- Stellar communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to comply with all school-specific onboarding, background, and contract processes
Role Responsibilities:
- Craft and deliver tailored educational plans for assigned caseload
- Create empowering, structured, and safe learning spaces
- Collaborate with district professionals and families to maximize student success
- Track student progress and document interventions
- Foster positive relationships and advocate for student needs
- Participate in virtual interviews and required onboarding prior to assignment
