Special Education Teacher - Hot Springs, South Dakota

This position is onsite, working Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with Fridays off to support work-life balance. You’ll work with a manageable caseload of 10-11 students across various disabilities—including Intellectual Disabilities (ID), Other Health Impaired (OHI), Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), and a group of three high behavioral students. Certification in PreK is preferred, but candidates with an elementary credential are also encouraged to apply.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (PreK preferred; elementary accepted)
- Previous experience with a range of disabilities, including behavioral and learning challenges
- Ability to work efficiently with individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary staff
- Dedication to creating a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Onsite availability during scheduled hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and revise IEPs for students based on their unique needs
- Provide direct instruction and support, adapting lessons to diverse learning abilities
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families
- Track student progress and maintain accurate records
- Implement positive behavioral supports and proactive classroom management strategies
