We're seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for a full-time, contract position for the upcoming school year. You’ll guide a self-contained, functional curriculum high school classroom, working alongside two dedicated paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician.
This opportunity runs from early August 2026 to late May 2027, with potential for renewal based on performance. The classroom focuses on lower-functioning students, requiring a compassionate and structured approach to empower every learner.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current or pending Special Education GaPSC certification, including content qualifications through 8th grade
- Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required (district may consider those in process of obtaining credentials)
- Prior experience supporting students in a functional or life skills classroom setting preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to foster productive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Comfortable implementing IEPs and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized, functional curriculum in a self-contained high school classroom
- Coordinate with paraprofessionals and behavior technician to provide a safe, supportive learning atmosphere
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans aligned to student goals and accommodations
- Monitor and document student progress, making data-driven adjustments as needed
- Engage with parents and guardians, offering updates and resources to extend learning beyond the classroom
- Participate in planning days and professional development as required
