Special Education Teacher in Lakeville, MN

One position is set in a specialized middle school classroom providing instruction and care for students in grades 6–8 who have developmental cognitive delays, some of whom use wheelchairs or present with mild behavioral needs. The second position is at an elementary level, serving students identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD), with a manageable caseload of 6–9 students in a supportive, inclusive community. Both roles offer the chance to collaborate with talented, caring teams deeply committed to meaningful education.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Minnesota Special Education teaching license is required (please provide your license number with your application)
- Experience working with students with cognitive delays, ASD, or physical disabilities is highly preferred
- Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learning needs and behaviors
- Collaborative approach to working with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school staff
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Deliver engaging instruction according to student abilities and needs
- Cultivate supportive relationships with students and their families
- Use a variety of teaching methods and assistive technologies
- Monitor progress, document data, and participate in team meetings
- Maintain compliance with district and state guidelines
