Special Education Teacher in Las Vegas, NV
Step into an impactful role shaping young lives as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive academic environment. Two contract positions are available working with elementary and middle school students in a self-contained classroom setting, focusing primarily on those with Autism. These classrooms are located on a military base, serving one of the district’s highest-needs populations. You will benefit from a team-oriented approach, with multiple paraprofessionals in each classroom, ensuring every student receives excellent support.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Nevada Special Education Teaching License (required)
- Prior experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum and high-needs populations (preferred)
- Flexibility, compassion, and strong classroom management skills
- Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained special education classroom (caseload capped at 13 students, 8–10 students present at a time)
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
- Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet each student’s unique needs
- Ensure seamless transitions to specials classes with the support of assigned aides
- Track and document student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
This is a full-time contract opportunity, running through May 31, 2027, with consistent hours from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. You will be making a significant difference for a deserving student population in a uniquely supportive setting.
