Special Education Teacher - Lenexa, Kansas

Multiple contract positions are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers, covering grades Kindergarten through 12, beginning August 2026 and extending through late May 2027.
This opportunity offers the chance to work in a variety of settings: life skills, autism-focused, or behavior classrooms. Teachers will be placed according to experience and interest and can serve at the elementary, middle, high school, or an alternative school program for students with severe behaviors (“Bridges”, all grades).
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current and active Kansas teaching license for the applicable grade level (required for consideration)
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher is preferred
- Specialized experience in life skills, autism support, or behavioral classrooms is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction tailored to students’ IEPs
- Work collaboratively with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and families
- Support student growth both academically and socially
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and adapt teaching strategies as needed
- Manage classroom routines and provide a positive, inclusive learning environment

- 10 Elementary School teachers
- 5 Middle School teachers
- 4 High School teachers
- 2 Bridges (alternative program) teachers
