Special Education Teacher | Loganville, Georgia
Make an impact guiding young learners as a Special Education Teacher for an elementary self-contained autism classroom on a full-time contract basis. This highly specialized role centers on delivering adapted curriculum instruction to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive differences, tailored to promote their academic growth, independence, and social skills.
Your expertise will empower elementary students with diverse strengths and needs within a supportive, structured classroom setting. You will collaborate closely with families, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure each child’s individualized education plan (IEP) is thoughtfully created and faithfully implemented.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, differentiated instruction utilizing adapted curriculum standards for students with complex learning profiles
- Develop and implement IEPs for each student, ensuring goals are measurable and meaningful
- Manage daily classroom routines, implement behavior support strategies, and foster a positive, nurturing environment
- Work collaboratively with paraprofessionals to maximize student support
- Maintain accurate records, monitor student data, and adjust instruction to track student growth
- Support development of functional communication, social skills, and adaptive behaviors
- Engage actively with families, specialists, and administration to ensure a holistic approach to student progress
Required Skills & Experience:
- Valid Georgia Special Education certification
- Direct experience instructing students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Demonstrated ability to craft and follow IEPs and implement effective behavioral supports
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
Preferred Background:
- Adapted Curriculum certification or substantial related experience
- Familiarity with ABA, structured teaching, visual supports, and functional communication systems
- Experience leading a classroom team or supervising paraprofessionals
This position requires the completion of three professional reference checks, including one from a recent direct supervisor.
