Special Education Teacher - Lynn, MA
Bring your expertise to a supportive educational environment as a Special Education Reading Teacher serving middle school students in grades 5-8. You’ll make a significant impact by delivering specialized instruction and inclusion support to learners with language-based disabilities. We are searching for two professionals eager to foster academic success and emotional growth while collaborating within a dynamic, student-focused team.
Successful candidates will provide direct reading instruction, participate in IEP planning and service delivery, and offer guidance and co-planning with general education staff. Experience working with the Wilson Reading Program is highly valued.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Massachusetts Special Education License (Moderate Disabilities, 5-8)
- Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement required
- Background supporting students with language-based disabilities at the middle school level
- Solid understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Demonstrated ability to provide both inclusion support and targeted small group or 1:1 instruction
- Familiarity with, or certification in, the Wilson Reading Program preferred
- Reading Specialist certification is a plus, though not mandatory
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with educators and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement targeted reading interventions for students with language-based challenges
- Develop and execute IEP goals and monitor student progress
- Provide co-teaching and inclusion support in classroom settings
- Plan and co-plan lessons and instructional strategies with other educators
- Maintain clear documentation and consistent communication related to student growth
