Special Education Teacher in Maple Grove, MN
Step into a rewarding Special Education opportunity as a DCD teacher working with a dedicated group of students. This contract role is perfect for educators passionate about making a meaningful difference, with a focus on supporting students who have Developmental Cognitive Disabilities. You’ll serve a caseload of approximately 9 students, working closely with a collaborative team in a nurturing elementary school environment. The position begins in late August 2026 and will continue through early June 2027, offering a predictable Monday through Friday schedule that allows for work-life balance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching Certification (required to present when applying)
- Tier 3 or 4 licensure in Special Education
- Experience teaching special education, ideally with students with developmental cognitive disabilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff and families
- Patience, adaptability, and dedication to supporting every student’s individualized learning journey
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with developmental cognitive disabilities
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction tailored to diverse learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure student success
- Monitor and document student progress toward academic and developmental goals
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages student growth and independence
- Communicate regularly with families, celebrating achievements and addressing concerns
