Special Education Teacher | Mckinney, Texas
Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting students in a Life Skills classroom at an elementary school near McKinney, TX. Desired Qualifications:
- Current Texas Special Education certification (SPED) with one of the following endorsements: Self Contained, Core Subjects, or Generalist—endorsement must align with the assigned grades
- Experience working in FASE (Functional Academics and Social Education) or Life Skills classroom settings is highly valued
- Strong ability to modify curriculum and implement IEPs for diverse learners
- Skilled in positive behavior intervention and classroom management techniques
- Excellent collaboration skills with paraprofessionals, therapists, and other educational staff
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom climate
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction in alignment with students’ IEP goals within a FASE classroom
- Develop engaging lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and developmental needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent and effective support
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies for home support
- Maintain detailed, compliant documentation in accordance with school and legal requirements
- Participate in IEP and staff meetings as needed
