Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid EMD (Education for the Moderately Disabled) teaching license required
- Prior experience in a special education classroom setting, preferably at the high school or elementary level
- Proficiency in developing and modifying Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with families, teachers, and specialists
- Ability to differentiate instruction and manage diverse needs within the classroom
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction to approximately 12 high school students or 6 elementary students, ensuring each child’s unique learning goals are met
- Collaborate with two classroom assistants assigned to the elementary group to provide effective small group and one-on-one support
- Maintain accurate student records and progress documentation
- Foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment
- Work closely with general education staff and administrators to coordinate services and accommodations
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and staff training as needed
- Uphold compliance with all state and federal guidelines for special education
