Special Education Teacher in Mesa, AZ

You’ll be placed in a structured, self-contained classroom specializing in high-needs Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD), where classes are typically capped at 15 students and will not exceed 20. Paraprofessional support is provided in each classroom, and you’ll play a vital role in supervising and guiding these team members. Grade-level assignments span Kindergarten through 8th and will be matched to your preferences as much as possible.
Desired Experience & Skills:
- Valid Special Education Teaching credential
- Previous experience with high-needs, EBD student populations
- Comfortable supervising paraprofessionals and working within collaborative teams
- Proven ability to step into established programs and adapt quickly
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and adapt curriculum to individual student needs
- Foster a safe, inclusive environment conducive to learning and growth
- Develop and implement IEPs, progress monitoring, and collaborate with staff and families
- Supervise, mentor, and support paraprofessionals in the classroom
