Special Education Teacher - Phoenix, Arizona
Make an immediate impact as a Special Education Teacher in a high-needs, self-contained classroom supporting students in grades K-8. Four positions are available for the upcoming semester, with the opportunity to continue following a successful placement. Situated in an area just outside Phoenix, this contract assignment runs from July 20 to December 18 and offers a welcoming, resource-rich setting designed to help both educators and students thrive.
Enjoy a manageable caseload, with a cap of 20 (typically 15 or fewer students), and dedicated paraprofessional support in every classroom. You'll collaborate closely with support staff while maintaining oversight and leadership of your team. Experience working in classrooms serving students with emotional and behavioral disabilities (EBD) is critical, as you'll be entering a well-established program where hands-on expertise is highly valued.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification (K-8)
- Prior experience in self-contained and high-needs EBD classrooms preferred
- Comfortable supervising and collaborating with paraprofessional aides
- Able to adapt quickly, working independently while following district procedures
- Strong communication and classroom management abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver structured instruction to students based on IEPs and best practices
- Ensure a safe and supportive environment conducive to both academic and behavioral growth
- Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals assigned to your classroom
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents, service providers, and administrators
Teachers will work full-time, 40 hours per week, with student instructional hours from 7:30am–2:30pm; arrival should be at least 15 minutes prior to student start time.
Earn $36–$42 per hour with W2 employment and comprehensive healthcare benefits. You’ll also work directly with a dedicated recruiter for ongoing support.
