In this DCD Special Education teaching position, you’ll join a dedicated elementary program (serving students in kindergarten and first grade) in a small-group Setting III environment. What You’ll Bring:
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Special Education Teacher
- Experience or passion for working with elementary-age students with significant developmental and cognitive disabilities
- Comfort and competence with personal care tasks (e.g., toileting, feeding, supporting communication device use)
- Adaptability, compassion, and strong communication skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom atmosphere
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and support for up to six K–1 students in a setting III classroom
- Assist students with all aspects of personal care
- Implement IEP goals and collaborate with support staff and families
- Utilize communication devices and adaptive tools
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and safe classroom environment
