Special Education Teacher - Naperville, IL

We’re searching for a dedicated educator to take on a long-term substitute assignment, collaborating with a passionate general education teacher to shape science learning for 7th and 8th grade students in a co-taught setting.
This assignment will run from August 17, 2026, through Thanksgiving Break at the end of November. School staff hours are 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.—perfect for those who value work-life balance while making a direct impact in students’ academic journeys.
Qualifications:
- Valid LBS1 Professional Educator License (PEL) required
- Previous experience in special education preferred
- Background teaching at the junior high or middle school level a plus
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with general education staff
- Passion for fostering inclusive classroom environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-teach 7th and 8th grade science, supporting diverse learners alongside the gen. ed. teacher
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to best meet students’ individual needs
- Monitor and document student progress, maintaining compliance with IEP goals
- Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and administration to facilitate student success
- Contribute positively to the school’s collaborative culture
