As a Special Education Teacher, you'll be a vital advocate, partner, and guide for your students and their families.
What you'll bring:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience—or strong interest—in supporting middle school-aged students with diverse learning needs
- Background working in self-contained or Life Skills classrooms preferred
- Proficiency in developing and managing IEPs
- Organizational skills and ability to track student progress
- Collaborative approach with school staff and families
- Patience, creativity, and a commitment to helping each student reach their unique potential
Key responsibilities:
- Lead a self-contained classroom tailored to meet a range of academic, social, and daily living needs
- Develop lesson plans and adapt materials to support individual learning goals
- Write, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assess student abilities and track progress, making informed adjustments as needed
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages independence and skill development
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and parents to ensure comprehensive care and continuity
