Exciting contract opportunities are available for passionate Special Education Teachers ready to make a lasting difference in students’ lives for the 2026/2027 school year. Multiple roles are open, supporting students across diverse district-wide programs—from specialized assessment and high school therapeutic settings to elementary center-based Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) classrooms.
Preferred Background or Experience:
- Conducting comprehensive special education evaluations and participating in eligibility meetings
- Developing compliant IEPs and managing caseloads
- Collaborative work with multidisciplinary educational teams
- Teaching in Setting III/IV therapeutic programs supporting significant emotional/behavioral needs
- Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including structured and sensory-supportive environments
- Behavior management, crisis prevention, and trauma-informed practices
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create, implement, and continually monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals
- Deliver specially designed instruction and behavioral intervention strategies
- Accurately document and track student progress, producing timely evaluation reports
- Collaborate regularly with general educators, related services, administrators, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, and district initiatives
- Uphold compliance with IDEA, Minnesota Special Education guidelines, and district policies
- Cultivate inclusive and supportive learning environments that promote student growth
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Active Minnesota PELSB Special Education Teaching License (Tier 1 or 2 accepted; Tier 3/4 preferred)
- Licensure in areas such as ABS, ASD, EBD, DD, or LD highly desirable
- Onsite teaching only; virtual placements not considered
