Special Education Teacher - Waterford, MI
Make a daily impact guiding high school students as a Special Education Teacher in a dedicated resource classroom. This full-time contract position requires a caring professional with expertise supporting grades 9-12 in a dynamic educational environment. Work alongside motivated educators during standard school hours (7:20 AM – 2:40 PM), developing creative solutions to help students thrive academically.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active and current Special Education teaching license relevant for high school grades
- Solid background working with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Familiarity with assessment strategies and special education testing protocols
- Previous experience in a resource classroom or similar secondary school setting preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and academic support for students with diverse learning needs in a resource setting
- Develop, implement, and adapt IEPs tailored to each student’s unique goals
- Conduct and interpret student assessments; participate in IEP meetings and reporting
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure inclusive, positive learning experiences
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress records
- Foster a welcoming, engaging environment that encourages student confidence and growth
